Welcome to our kindergarten class!
My goal is for my students to enjoy learning. We will explore many topics through a variety of learning styles and methods. The children will be encouraged to collaborate with others and express their creativity. Throughout the year we will capture our learning experiences and share them with you. Please use this website to keep updated on what we are learning about and discover ways to develop your child's talents.

Daily Folders Your child will have a daily folder. We will use the folder to communicate between home and school. The folder has two pockets and prongs that hold several items. In the middle of the folder, there is a planner, list of sight words, 100 chart, alphabet sounds chart, and a math tool helper. Be sure to take care of your folder. I will not have replacements if your folder gets lost or is damaged.

For the teacher
The school will provide a planner for each child. I will mark in your child's planner each day with a star, smiley face, straight face, or sad face, depending on your child's behavior each day, There is also room in the planner for any notes or questions you have for me. Please initial the planner each day. Important Papers Your child will have some papers that need to be reviewed, signed and returned. These papers will be in the back pocket of your child's green daily folder. These papers need to be signed and returned in a timely manner.
The children will receive a leveled reader on their first day of school. Have your child practice reading this book. When your child is ready to read it to me fluently, return it to school. If your child reads the book fluently, I will send home the next book. There are 72 books in the series. For each five books read, your child will earn a small prize. There is no other homework that your child needs to complete an turn in. I want to encourage you to let your child explore and play, as these are ways that children learn. Newsletters We have a weekly classroom newsletter that will go home on the last day of the week. The newsletter will include a list of the topics we are learning and our special area schedule for the upcoming week. These newsletters are the best way to see what we are doing in class, so be sure to read these. The fridge is a great place to display it! I love to also include pictures of the children doing activities in class and showcase student work. Deltona Lakes also sends home a quarterly newsletter. This is a great way to see what is going on for the entire campus. Remind I am utilizing an online texting app called Remind. You can subscribe for the free service. If you subscribe, you will receive texts messages for class updates. Come check it out: https://www.remind.com/join/bca4b7 Student Work At pack-up time, the children will empty their mailboxes. Any completed and/or graded work will go in the front pocket of your child's folder. Empty this pocket and keep these items at home. Any large artwork that cannot fit in the folder will be in your child's backpack. |
